 The list of activities is endless and includes some of the worlds great walks, train trips, cycle tracks, fishing, snow skiing, canoeing, horse riding, boating and yachting.

Fishing in NZ is popular, with easy, free or cheap access, and quality target fish with many fresh and saltwater fish world records– in 2017/18 an estimated 2 million fishing trips were taken by recreational fishers – this from a population of 4.5 million people.

Hunting is also accessible as many introduced birds, deer, goats, rabbits and opossums are seen as feral pests.
